Notes:
The
1951 and 1952 maps which are printed on one side only are similar to the 1941
map which is attached to a booklet. These 1951 and 1952 maps may also have been
included with a similar booklet, although only the maps themselves are
confirmed to exist.
From
1969 to 1980, both the front and the back covers have the same design. Either
side of the 1981 map could be considered the front cover; only one side is
described here.
A
brief letter from Lynn Vaughn, who was Chief Cartographer for the state of
Kentucky from 1960 to 1988, states that two maps were issued each year from
1926 to 1953—one for the spring-summer season and another for the fall-winter
season. He also states that from 1954 to the present, the map has been printed
in March and reprinted in September. More detailed information from Mr. Vaughn
may provide additional varieties to those listed here.
The
"Kentucky Parks" maps are the same inside, except for some state park
information, as the regular issue maps.
