Notes:
Illinois has issued “official” state highway maps through both the Division of Highways/Dept. of Transportation and the Secretary of State’s office. Initially these were completely different maps, but in later years used the same map with different covers. Other agencies which also issued maps include the Dept. of Commerce and Community Affairs; Dept. of Conservation; and Dept. of Business and Economic Development. These are not listed here.
Maps noted as “reported by Peddicord” refer to an article entitled “The Evolution of the Illinois Official Highway Map, 1917 to 1992” which appeared in the Summer 1993 edition of Illinois GIS & Mapnotes (Vol. 11, No. 2).
