PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND OFFICIAL MAPS

Notes:
The Prince Edward Island Travel Bureau was founded by Aubin E. Arsenault who served as president from 1923 to 1939. On 2 January 1940, the Travel Bureau became a Department of the Provincial Government. At some point in the 1950s (1954?) the Department name was changed to the Tourist and Information Bureau and in 1960 changed to the Department of Tourist Development. It is now Tourism PEI. It is unknown if the PEI Department of Public Works and Highways, named in 1931, ever issued maps. Apparently the official road map was always issued by an organization responsible for tourism. The PEI Tourist and Publicity Association, formed in 1923, was a different non-government organization. They issued an undated 1930s map by the PEI Motor League. This is not thought of as an official map.

Undated maps listed as [c.1948-51] are likely from different years in this timespan.

The two versions described as [c.1973-74] are likely 1973 and 1974 issues, but it is unknown which is which.
